The “Be-With Art Partnership”

Calling all Artists for the 2025 “Be-With Art Partnership”!

St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 1510 E. 7th St., Charlotte, is committed to celebrating art and incorporating it into our spiritual life and community.  We created the “Be-With Art Partnership” in 2022 to support local and regional artists and expand our ever-growing art collection.

We invite local/regional artists to apply for the 2025 Be-With Art Partnership. This year’s recipient of the Be-With Art Partnership will depict St. Martin of Tours in the visual medium of their choice.  The subject matter is not limited to the time and place of St. Martin's life.  Artists may depict him in a modern setting and/or time period.

St. Martin’s Episcopal Church is named for St. Martin of Tours.  Born around 316 A.D., Martin was a soldier in the Roman army.  Legend has it that Martin, en route to battle, encountered a cold and shivering beggar.  Martin took his sword and split his military issued cloak in half and shared it with the man.  Later that evening, Martin dreamed of Jesus wearing the half of the cloak he had given away and heard Jesus say to some of the angels, "Martin…clothed me with this robe." Martin later became a bishop and wonderworker with a special heart for the poor.

St. Martin’s Episcopal Church  invites all individuals, regardless of race, gender, age, sexual orientation, and/or religious affiliation to apply.  Only nonmembers of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church may apply. The selected artist will be paid a stipend of $2000.

In order to be considered for The Be-With Art Partnership, you must submit the three part application by May 12, 2025.  The application and important guidelines and dates can be accessed at this link: https://forms.gle/ELVPKoHb1BLVhi3H8
