To Donate Stock

  1. Contact Jane Thompson, our Financial Secretary, and let her know you are transferring stock and how you wish the proceeds to be used. This step is very important to assure your gift is correctly applied.

  2. Contact your stockbroker and have your shares transferred to St. Martin's account. Please contact Jane Thompson for the account number for St. Martin's account at Wells Fargo Advisors:

  • Broker name: Phil Manz

  • Broker phone#: 704 552-7222 or 1-800-955-2522

  • Mailing address: 6000 Fairview Road, Suite 800, Charlotte, NC 28210

Note: Your Contribution Statement will reflect the sale price of the stock minus the broker fees charged when the stock was sold.

To Make a US Required Minimum Distribution (RMD)

If you are 70 ½ or older, you can make a contribution to St. Martin's directly from your Traditional IRA simply by instructing the plan administrator to make the transfer directly as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). You are allowed to transfer up to $100,000 a year to the charities of your choice. Your gift will be transferred directly to St. Martin's, will not be reported as taxable income, and will count toward your minimum distribution requirements for the current year. Most importantly, your gift will support the ongoing mission of our parish!

Contact your IRA Custodian company for information on how to make a tax-free rollover directly from your IRA. Typically, you will only need the church's legal name and address.
