The Who, What, Why, and How of Education For Ministry (EfM)

Would you like to gather with a small group at St. Martin’s to:

  • explore your Christian faith traditions?

  • ponder your faith commitments?

  • learn new ways of integrating your faith practice into your life?

  • become better equipped to pursue your ministry?

As baptized Christians, we are all called to ministry, not only ministries within the church, but also in the larger world. EfM helps us build a theological foundation for that ministry, equipping us with the understanding we need to engage, serve, and love others well.

  • EfM is a four-year program, but you register for one year at a time

  • Each year there are 34 weekly meetings between September and May. Each meeting lasts 2 1/2 hours and requires 3 to 4 hours of preparation.

  • The first year focuses on the Old Testament, the second on the New Testament, the third on the history of Christianity, and the fourth on theology, ethics, and interfaith relations.
